I'm writing this post as a training guide for all the multiple S1914 players who seem confused about this game and alliances.
When you enter into an alliance agreement with another player you get:
-Shared view on all their armies
-They get to see all your armies.
-Allows trading on stockmarket
-Allows your troops to enter his territory
-Allows his troops to enter yours.
Thats it, not one thing more or less.
Why I wrote this is because of all the people who seem to think that entering an alliance does more than this.
Well they are confused and wrong, how many games do they have to lose before they actually learn? Well hopefully no more due to alliance ignorance.
Golden Rules of aliances.
1# An alliance is not a promise or a contract that prevents your ally attacking you or you from attacking your ally.
2# Having an alliance means that any army weaknesses are now readily apparent.
3# Having an alliance allows you or your ally to move troops into strategic locations before attacking.
Now some people will disagree with the above. Well they are wrong.
I suspect the primary cause of their mistaken beliefs is that they are not after S1914 alliances they are after reliable trustworthy in game friends.
Clicking ONE button does not magically gift you loyalty nor friendship!
With regards to your ally have you:
-Gifted them resources or kept all that you produce for yourself?
-Have you shared provinces during a ai conquest or kept the lot for yourself?
-Do you constantly communicate openly and with friendliness to your ally or just clicked one button only to never speak to them again till the now ex-ally takes your game away from you?
If you want an loyal ally then EARN IT.
Stop thinking that S1914 alliances does anything more than what i listed above and start working on the human player behind the game gui.
So
DO: Be generous with those you want as allies.
DONT: Trust allies who have given you nothing
DO: Use alliances as the best scouting/spy tool in the game
DONT Enter new alliances when your army is pitiful and your provinces plentiful
DO: Use alliances to buy you time till you are ready to take your ally out
DONT: Trust allies that you have given nothing to
DO: Communicate regulary with all your allies
I hope that in some way this post helps.
